Знакомьтесь:
Стас Прокофьев,
хоккеист, один из ярких представителей нашей русской молодежи в Калгари.
Hi,
My
name is Stas Prokofiev, I am 16. Born in Moscow, Russia. Lived
in Moscow until I was 6 years old. Then I moved to London, England where I
went to school and grew up. I attended Northolt High School for 5 years and
received my GCSE's. I have many friends in London. I play
a lot
of sports as well. I have been playing Ice Hockey for around 4 and a half
years now. I also enjoy playing Tennis, Soccer, Badminton and sometimes
basketball. I have one sister who lives in London she is 19 years old and goes
college.
I came
to Calgary last year in November. This year I have been playing at the Banff
Hockey Academy and attending Banff Community High School. I like people
who are open minded, sporty and active. People who like to have a good time
with their friends. I don't like people who smoke and are lazy. I try to keep
myself active in the summer by playing other sports
besides Hockey. I listen to all types of music, I don't really have a favorite
type.

We met Stas at his Calgary residence to talk
a bit about hockey.
1. Why hockey?
Why hockey I really
don't know. One day I was playing NHL 2000 the video game and became really
interested in hockey. So then I started out with beginners where you only
get a stick, helmet and gloves and we would just got taught the basics, and
from there I just became more serious with hockey over the years. I also
love it because its fast and on ice and hockey is in
every Russian mans
blood.
2. What attract you in this game?
What attracts me is
the fast paced action. The hard hitting and scoring nice goals. Hockey never
gets boring because its always different. I love skating on the ice as well.
3. What hockey gives you (does it help you in
your life)?
Hockey helps me stay
active and healthy, as well as being part of a team and meeting new people
and challenges. Hockey helps me be strong and confident in life and in
everything else I do.
4. Tell us about your hockey team. How many are
you, what age, any Russians besides you? Are you close friends?
The team has 16
players. The youngest being born in 1990 through to 1988, and we have 1
goalie who is a 1986. There are players from America, Canada, Switzerland,
Japan and England, Unfortunately I am the only Russian. I am close to many
guys but the closest friend on the team is Daniel Davies from England
because I have known him for many years and we used to play together in
England.
5. Tell us about your coach?
The coaches are Bill
Doherty and Dan Cioffi.
During his playing
days Bill was able to play in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey league for the
Quebec Ramparts and Dan Cioffi used to play in the Ontario Junior A league
as well as Canadian College hockey. Dan also used to work as an Assistant
off ice coach for the Ottawa Senators of the NHL.
7. What are your/your team achievements?
The team is an Academy
which is put together every year, so new player come every year and those
who choose to stay another year. This year we have put together some string
results in the Heritage Junior B league. We have also had two 2nd Place
finishes in our Home tournaments.
8. Your plans for feature?
My plans for the
future is to carry on playing hockey and study business and investing, as I
want to one day own my own business and be an investor in the stock market.
Thank you, Stas for
your interview. We wish you all the best in your life and good luck!
